Revisiting the Nicaraguan Revolution...

is intended to provoke reflection on the Sandinista period but also to raise questions about what it can teach us about our current situation. It is important to avoid black-and-white interpretations and capture the complexities of this period. The exhibit avoids romanticizing the revolution while recognizing the many positive achievements of the Sandinistas. We encourage you to critically analyze these posters, their biases, and to ask yourself: What stories and people are missing from the picture they paint? The posters provide one window into a very special human experience but if we read between the lines, we see that there are other perspectives that these materials can only show us by their absence.
