Description
On this day, youth gathered in Managua to support the Sandinista National Liberation Front. Many youth supported the overthrow of Somoza, the oppressive and exploitative dictator who had been in power until 1979. Tens of thousands of youth eagerly supported the revolution and overthrow of Somoza and rallied behind the Sandinista cause. Idealism captured the hearts of the youth, as they saw within Sandinista ideology the ideas of popular power, freedom, and democracy.
